Astrum was conceptualised in late 2020 and was founded in July 2021 in a workshop out of Perth, Western Australia. Allannah and Ty started Astrum to educate their buyers about options in jewellery from diamonds, moissanites and other gemstones. Their mission is to help their customers purchase a ring with knowledge and power.
The Astrum shopper has great taste but knows you don’t have to spend a lot of money on the highest quality engagement rings and other jewellery they have the choice to create their own style and budget.

Meet Ty & Allannah
Ty attended his first jewellery class in 1997 while he was still in high school. That very first day, he told his Dad that creating jewellery was what he wanted to do. His supportive father set up Ty’s first work experience at a small local jewellery store, and that’s where his apprenticeship began in early 1998.
Ty finished his apprenticeship in Perth, where he worked alongside his first mentor and built his skills and techniques. He continued to work in jewellery stores for the next 20 years in Perth, Pilbara and Broome. He travelled internationally to Hong Kong and Belgium where he had the opportunity to learn about the international diamond trade industry and attend diamond optical settings schools. Along his journey, Ty has had the opportunity to create pieces with some of the world’s highest quality diamonds, pearls and gemstones as well as many of the precious metals Australia has to offer.
In 2019, he moved back to Perth where he worked in the Jewellery Trade industry, His skills were tested there, as he was challenged to set lower-quality diamonds. He saw people purchasing diamonds for carat weight rather than brilliance and those stones were not investment quality. It’s here that he saw a need for people to have access to budget-friendly stones that are as brilliant as a diamond and last a lifetime.
Allannah is a jewellery-loving mum of 4. She knows what it’s like to want to wear fine jewellery but not be able to purchase it. Her loving partner wanted her to have beautiful jewellery, but they couldn’t afford quality diamonds. To give her the beautiful diamond ring she always wanted, her partner asked her brother, Ty to create a ring for her.
Ty created Allannah a gorgeous ring, but it was made with cubic zirconia. It was beautiful for a while, but its sparkle didn’t last forever. Unfortunately, her cubic zirconia scratched and lost its sparkle and nobody asks her about her “diamond” ring. But now her moissanite engagement ring sparkles and shines. She knows it will continue to amaze for generations to come.
Now, Allannah enjoys knowing someone like her you can have a beautiful stone that glitters and shines just like a diamond. She says you don’t have to have an expensive jewel on your finger what’s important is the meaning behind it.
